Work auction Feb. 22 at Marion

Staff writer

To celebrate National FFA Week next week, Marion and Centre FFA chapters are planning several days of special activities.

Marion will celebrate by sponsoring dress-up days for FFA members each day of the week.

Ag Olympics competitions will be set up for high school and middle school students during the week.

The final activity will be the annual FFA Alumni work auction Feb. 22. A free barbecue will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by the auction, in which members will be auctioned for an eight-hour workday.

Centre’s activities will start Tuesday when FFA members are asked to dress as a favorite farm animal. In seventh hour, they will meet with second-graders for a Food for America event.

All FFA students are asked to don western wear Feb. 20. They will serve a teacher/staff appreciation breakfast from 6:45 to 8 a.m.

Feb. 21 will be FFA T-shirt Day. The chapter will have a hamburger feed. Members can drive their tractors to school that day.

Members are expected to wear official FFA dress Feb. 22. They will lead an Ag Olympics for students during seventh hour.

A community breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at Burdick United Methodist Church.

FFA members will cap the week by attending 10:30 a.m. Mass at Pilsen on Feb. 24.
