Inman girls won and Moundridge boys were the team winners as nine schools traveled Friday to Warrior Stadium to compete in a Heart of America League track meet.

The Marion girls placed sixth. Marion boys placed fifth.

Sophia Dye won in javelin.

Gabby Newell placed third in 100 hurdles and Taryn Kraus did the same in 300 hurdles.

Mckinnon Waner snagged three top-five finishes, placing fourth in shot put, fourth in discus, and fifth in javelin.

Three Marion girls competed in the triple jump finals. Kenna Wesner placed fifth, Kayla McPhail seventh, and Shyann Harris ninth.

“We have to recognize our one HOA champion, Sophia Dye,” coach Grant Thierolf said. “She had a great series in the javelin and won the competition with a career best throw.”

On the boys side, Chance Shults won in pole vault and placed second in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles.

Quade Williams placed second in the shot put.

Luke Wessel, Eli Klenda, Christopher Beery, and Tristen Dye placed third in the 4x800 relay.

“We had the same feeling after the HOA meet for our boys team as we did for our girls team,” Thierolf said. “We really competed well and had a great meet.”

A Class 2A regional meet is scheduled for Friday at Warrior Stadium.
