Marion Middle School Scholars’ Bowl teams started the 2018 season Monday by hosting four other Heart of America schools.

The eighth-grade team of Reyna Bouslog, Emily Hake, Hannah May, Mickelly Soyez, Anderson Waddell, and Johnny Zieammermann posted a 3-1 record to place second in their division.

They defeated Berean 50-30, Moundridge 35-20, and Trinity 40-25. They lost to Inman 50-40.

Bouslog led scoring with 65 points, followed by May, 60; Soyez, 20; and Hake and Waddell, 10 each.

The Wildcat seventh-grade team of Addy Ash, Christopher Beery, Tristen Dye, Sadie Lange, and Lane Svoboda posted a 1-3 record, losing to Berean Academy 30-20, Moundridge 50-30, and Hutch Trinity 30-15. They gained some first time experience by scoring 50 points in a ghost round.

Lange led scoring with 40 points, followed by Dye, 25; Svoboda and Beery, 20; and Ash, 10.
