Malvin Schmidt

Services for Malvin Schmidt, 89, who died Monday at Hillsboro Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Pastor Brian Allen will officiate.

Born June 2, 1929, in rural Hillsboro to Andrew and Bena (Balzer) Schmidt, he married Darlene Klaassen on Oct. 4, 1953, in Hillsboro. She died in 2017. Brothers Andrew, Sam, Emanuel, and Dennis Schmidt and sister Elma Rempel also preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Schmidt of Salina, Leroy Schmidt of McPherson, and Kelly Schmidt of Harbor, Washington; daughter Malvina Schmidt of Tulsa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorials has been established with the church.
