MacGregor’s sold to Olathe couple

A Marion Main St. building empty since the restaurant it housed abruptly closed in 2017 will see new life next year.

The former MacGregor’s Restaurant, which opened and then closed a few days later for fire code violations, was purchased by an Olathe couple with ties to Marion.

It appears the building will house a restaurant when it reopens.

“We’re just so early right now in our planning that we don’t want to say much at this time,” new owner Megan Jones said. “Our hope is to have a really wonderful place to have fun and gather with the family.”

Megan Whitaker Jones graduated from Marion High School in 2004. Her husband, Daryl Jones, grew up in Wichita.

They closed on the building Oct. 30.

Megan said the couple expects to start working on the interior of the building in December. There is much work to be done, she said.

“Obviously the building has been vacant for quite some time,” she said.

She declined to set a timeline on when the couple expects renovation to be completed.

“We plan to bring some food and some fun for Marion,” Jones said.

The soonest they think their business could be open is summer.
