Local teens take honors at Junior Livestock Show

Several area youth performed well in the state’s largest junior livestock show.

The 86th Kansas Junior Livestock Show was held Oct. 5-7 in Hutchinson. Competing were 723 4-H and FFA members from 91 counties who exhibited 1,519 head of livestock, the largest number of animals shown at KJLS since 1988.

Marion County exhibitors were:

Cailey Barney, Tampa, 5th in class 16, market lamb.

Zach Barney, Tampa, 6th in class 8, market lamb; 8th in class 4, commercial ewe lamb.

Tayle Black, Marion, 2nd in class 19, commercial gilt; 4th in class 3, duroc gilt.

Jessica Klumpe, Cedar Point, 12th in class 18, commercial gilt.

Corin Parmley, Cedar Point, 11th in class 3, commercial ewe lamb; 4th in class 21, commercial gilt; 5th in class 7, market lamb; 8th in class 8, market lamb.

Ashley Peters, Lehigh, 2nd in class 7, meat goat; 4th in intermediate LEAD Challenge; 5th in class 12, meat goat; 5th in intermediate goat showmanship; 7th in class 5, commercial doe kid.

Landon Roberts, Hillsboro, 2nd in class 14, market lamb; 2nd in class 17, commercial gilt; 4th in class 11, dark cross market barrow; 5th in class 9, commercial ewe lamb.

Colt Smith, Cedar Point, 7th in class 17, commercial gilt; 8th in class 15, light cross market barrow.

Lane Smith, Cedar Point, 7th in class 14, dark cross market barrow; 8th in class 22, commercial gilt.

Calleigh Soyez, Marion, 5th in class 4, commercial ewe lamb; 5th in class 9, market lamb; 6th in class 11, commercial ewe lamb; in class 10, market lamb.

Hitch Soyez, Marion, 11th in class 2, commercial ewe lamb; 3rd in class 7, market lamb; 6th in class 9, market lamb.

Wyatt Soyez, Marion, 10th in class 6, commercial ewe lamb; 14th in class 12, commercial ewe lamb; 6th in class 14, market lamb; 6th in class 17, market lamb.
