Larry Bina

Larry Joseph Bina, 75, of Perry, Illinois, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born Feb. 28, 1941, to George and Emma (Oborny) Bina outside of Lincolnville, Kansas. He married Marsha (Lidgard) Fernandes on June 29, 1996, and she survives.

He is also survived by his stepdaughters Yvette West and husband, John, of Midlothian, Texas, Patti Saxer and husband, Joe, of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Alisa Fernandes of Merritt, Illinois, as well as granddaughters Cassi Ruyle, Cydny Saxer, Carmyn Saxer, Eden West, and grandson Caleb West. A sister, Betty Jean Patterson of Wichita, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ann Strecker of Topeka, Kansas, and his mother in-law Mardell (Bill) Lidgard of Chambersburg, Illinois.

Along with helping on the family farm, Larry ran bulldozers for a total of 45 years, eventually starting his own excavation company, Bina Dozer Service. During the ’90s, he also began raising emus on his Twin Feathers Emu Ranch.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Chambersburg Christian Church, with burial to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Meredosia. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
