Kings retire from school district

For 29 years, Marion has been a comfortable cradle for the Larry and Jane King family. Soon a new chapter in their lives will begin.
Jane will retire from her position with the school district at the end of May. Likewise, Larry will retire as bus driver.
Jane King said the couple has yet to decide how their lives will unfold after that.
In 1987, the couple moved from Emporia with their then-elementary-school-aged children, Charity, Lucas, and Noah.
Larry was a full-time minister at Good News Christian Fellowship church. He retired in 2011. More recently, he drove a school bus for USD 408, although he’s continued to perform weddings, funerals, and guest preaching.
During the Marion years, Larry has been an avid bow hunter and Harley Davidson driver.
Jane, a registered nurse, went back to school in the early 1990s to complete her bachelor’s degree in nursing, thereafter working primarily in administrative nursing. She retired from those duties in 2010. In 2004, she began teaching certified nurse aide and medication aide classes at Butler College of Marion, and served as RN consultant for Marion Assisted Living in recent years.
In 2010, she accepted a part-time nursing job with USD 408. That job became full-time.
She’s also been costume director for Marion High School theatrical presentations.
“Marion has been a wonderful place to raise a family and serve in this great community we have called home for all these years,” Jane said. “We will miss everyone.”
