Kansas Gas Service seeks rate hike

Residents of Goessel, Burns, Lehigh, Lincolnville, and Ramona could see the price of natural gas spike 10 percent if the Kansas Corporation Commission approves a request filed by Kansas Gas Service.
A public hearing on the request will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Washburn Institute of Technology in Topeka.
People who attend the hearing can learn more about the proposed rate change and comment on it to KCC commissioner.
Members of the public can watch a live broadcast of the hearing or watch a recording available on the commission’s website after Oct. 11.
KGS’s request for a $42.7 million dollar net base rate increase was filed in June. The average residential customer’s natural gas bill will increase by $5.67 per month if KCC grants the request.

Public comments will be taken through 5 p.m. Dec. 14.
