Marion defeated Hillsboro and Halstead to win a girls’ junior varsity tournament Saturday in Marion.

Marion got off to a hot start against Hillsboro with five 3-point shots in the first quarter to take a lead which it never relinquished. Led 21-10 at halftime, and won 34-21.

With the win the Warriors advanced to play Halstead for the championship.

The Dragons scored the first 3 points. However, the Warriors answered with 5, and stretched the lead to 9 at halftime. Marion dominated the second half, leading by as many as 30 before claiming a 55-28 win.
