John McClaskey

Services for former carpenter and barber John Phillip McClaskey, 82, of Marion, will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson. He died Jan. 10 at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Burial will be 10:30 a.m. in McPherson Cemetery.

John was born in Belleville on April 18, 1936, to Dr. Claget and Velna (Hallock) McClaskey.

He attended Cuba public schools, Kansas State University, Manhattan, and Kansas School of Barbering, Wichita.

He married Cleora P. Hicks on May 27, 1956, in Agenda, where they established their first home. They had three children, Martin, Susan, and Michael.

He is survived by his wife Cleora McClaskey of Marion; children, Susy Gullett of Nevada, Missouri, and Michael McClaskey of McPherson; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, son Martin, and brother Paul McClaskey.

Memorials have been established with Marion County Food Bank or St. Luke Hospital Foundation.
