Ida Wendt

Ida Mae Wendt, 79, sister of Valera Hamm of Durham, died Oct. 24 at the Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salina.

Funeral service was to be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herington, with burial following at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday at the Zeiner Funeral Home Herington Chapel.

She was born in Michigan on Dec. 29, 1935, to parents George and Mary Morris. When she was 9 years old, she was adopted by Presley and Helen Graves of Goddard.

She worked as a librarian assistant at Herington High School from 1970 until she retired. She was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington.

She married Evan L. Wendt on Jan. 22, 1953, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2004. She is also preceded in death by son Steve Wendt; daughter Jacqueline Sjodahl; brothers Earl Price and Robert Morris; and sister Helen Marie Harms. 

She is survived by son Don Wendt of Salina; sisters Valera Hamm of Durham and Shirley Goodman-Davis of California; brother Charles Morris of Illinois; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
