Evasion, child endangerment, and drugs among alleged offenses

A Marion couple that led officers on a high-speed chase Thursday from Marion to Hillsboro, allegedly to obtain medical treatment for a juvenile, landed in jail with a long list of suspected offenses.

At 6:10 p.m. April 4, a sheriff’s deputy radioed dispatch that he was “trying to get a Cavalier stopped with two occupants” in the 500 block of Cedar St. in Marion.

The deputy reported a passenger got out of the car at Cedar St. and US-56, and the car continued westbound toward Hillsboro. A Marion officer joined the chase.

The Cavalier, identified by a dispatcher as belonging to Rick LeShure of Marion, was reportedly going 90 mph as the chase passed Old Mill Rd.

According to Sheriff Robert Craft, as the chase reached Hillsboro, the Cavalier went past Industrial Rd., went into a ditch, and made a turn back onto the road in front of the oncoming Marion police car.

“I hit him,” the Marion officer radioed.

The left front of the patrol car struck the left rear of the Cavalier at low speed, Craft said, and neither vehicle was disabled.

“He’s back eastbound on 56; he’s on Industrial southbound,” the officer said.

The Cavalier turned into the parking lot at Hillsboro Community Hospital and stopped.

“(They) turned into the hospital there with the claim of a medical emergency,” Craft said. “A passenger in the car had a cut wound.”

Craft confirmed the injured passenger was a juvenile, but did not provide any additional information.

At 6:21 p.m., an officer reported two people were in custody.

“We did have a taser deployment on the driver,” he said.

Rick LeShure, 33, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment and three charges related to attempting to flee or elude law enforcement officers, all felonies; and misdemeanor offenses of reckless driving; failure to stop at an accident; and failure to provide information in a collision.

Brandi Bosley, 34, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment, two counts of possession of opiates or narcotics, and interference with law enforcement, all felonies; and misdemeanor offenses of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were detained in jail overnight and released Thursday. Bond information was not available on the online jail roster.
