Happy Hustlers

Happy Hustlers 4-H club was called to order March 6 at Marion Christian Church. Roll call was “What are your plans for spring break?” There were 19 members, four leaders, five parents, and one guest in attendance.

Treasurer Corin Parmley reported that the club’s balance is $680.12. Reporter Tristan Williams said the February meeting was put in the paper. Council representative Johnny Ziemmermann reported Renae Reedy would be leaving April 1, and Marsha Meyer told us about the Spring Beef Show, table setting, Friends of 4-H BBQ, and possible changes with enrollment in the coming year.

For committee reports, Johnny Zieammermann told us about how Dr. Seuss Day was postponed to Feb. 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. He said that they needed help from volunteers for crafts and reading, and he thanked the foods project for making the treats.

For community leader reports, Jodi Watkins said that they are asking for food stand help at the county fair this year, that beef tagging is 5 p.m. March 10, the Spring Beef Show on March 26, other livestock tagging on May 3, and unmanned aerial systems experience registration is due March 16.

In project leader reports, Johnny said that there would be a horse meeting at 3 p.m. March 26. Marsha spoke in the absence of Tina Groening and said that she was looking for a date to have an Exploring 4-H meeting. Cathy Martin said that she had our shirts.

In new business, Corin Parmley made a motion that the club give $100 for the Friends of 4-H meal, there was some discussion, and the motion passed.

Corin Parmley and Jay Depler gave a talk together on pig chores. Lane Watkins led the club in trivia for recreation.

The next meeting will be 7 p.m. April 3 at Marion Christian Church. Taryn Kraus and Tristan Williams are signed up for talks. The Smith and Parmley families are signed up for refreshments.
