Gene Stafford

Services for Gene Elvin Stafford, 100, of Longmont, Colorado, who passed away Aug. 1, 2026, at home, were 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at Greenwood and Myers Mortuary, 2969 Baseline Rd., Boulder, Colorado. A reception followed.

Gene was born April 13, 1926, in Marion to Linzie and Hazel Stafford, who preceded him in death.

He spent his childhood on his parent’s dairy farm and attended Marion High School, graduating in 1945.

Gene met Ramona Pearson in Topeka, and they married in 1949. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, while Gene attended Union College for four years, followed by graduate school at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He graduated in 1960 with a doctorate in dental science.

Stephen Leroy was born Oct. 7, 1951. Gene’s first dental practice was in Wayne, Nebraska. He practiced there until 1962, when they moved to Boulder.

Penny JoLynn was born Feb. 1, 1963. Gene practiced dentistry in Boulder for 30 years.

Gene and Ramona were very happily married for 67 years. Ramona passed away Aug. 16, 2016.

Gene had a huge 100th birthday celebration in April of this year. He was able to reconnect with so many friends and family. More than 150 people attended and had the opportunity to celebrate his life while enjoying music and good food. It was a great day.

Gene was a lifetime member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Stafford of Gypsum, Colorado; his daughter, Penny (and husband Chuck) Myers of Mead, Colorado; and his granddaughters, Linzie (and husband Christian) Ridings and Taylor Myers, both of Durango, Colorado.
