Marion Senior Center
Fork, forks, forks
Senior Center
Marion Senior Center patrons celebrated National Fork Day Oct. 28 hearing the history of the utensil, a story of a fork symbolizing “the best is yet to come,” and a song traditionally sung at the unique event.
Although no one dressed up like a fork, Rhonda Brenzikofer shared a commemorative fork and Keith Allison provided a tuning fork for the piano.
Frightful-looking people haunted the kitchen on Halloween. Shirley Bowers also dressed as a Native American maiden and Janet Bryant wore a witch cape and wig. A Halloween story was told with the spooky sounds of ghosts, witches, cats, and owls.
The ONE committee visited Nov. 2. Members were county senior center site managers Connie Omstead, committee chair; Gayla Ratzlaff, county coordinator, Department of Aging; and Sue Clough, area agency board member.
Rachel Collett of CB Baked Goods will speak Nov. 14 on Senior Center Day and Bennie Holtsclaw will perform a musical program Nov. 16.
