Flashback to the past 80 years

Florence Labor Day’s theme is “Flashback to the past 80 years,” in commemoration of the 80th edition of the annual town celebration.

A new event is a disc golf tournament at 8 a.m. Sept. 2 at the disc golf course on 8th St. Entry fee is $10 per two-man teams. Contact John Branson at (316) 993-3463.

Saturday musical entertainment features Matt Engels and “The Banned.”

The Harvey Boys will play the Howe House Griffins in an old fashioned 1860s vintage baseball game Sept. 3. A fireworks show at dusk will follow the game.

Edmond and Carolyn Spencer will be grand marshals for the parade Sept. 4. More parade information is available by calling Melvin Honeyfield at (620) 382-6434.

Flint Hills Muzzleloaders Club will hold its 22nd annual Labor Day weekend shoot south of the railroad tracks Sept. 1, 2, and 3.
