FamLee Bakery to close June 29

Staff writer

A popular Marion bakery is closing its doors June 29.

FamLee Bakery, which opened on Main St. in September 2016, is operated by sisters Catie Zurcher and Jenny Craft in partnership with their parents, Jeff and Dawn Lee.

FamLee Bakery has expanded twice, adding a lunch menu about a year ago and bakery boxes sold by subscription in April.

Craft said the business sent a letter to the editor of an area newspaper, but had nothing further to say because they want to control everything said about the business’ closure.

That letter said their final day would be June 29.

“At this time in our lives the needs of our children and the importance of providing a foundational family life dictates that we place our dreams on hold,” the letter said.

“Our focus now is on raising our children and giving them the time they need for being a family. Please understand that this decision was not made lightly, and we deeply appreciate the support we have received from the community that has made the bakery such a success.”

The family hopes to sell the building and equipment. People with gift certificates are encouraged to redeem them.

In the past three years, Marion has lost Cindy’s Family Cafe, MacGregor’s, Pizza Hut, and Aunt Mae’s. It has added Dorothy’s Coffee House and Tea Room and CB Bakery.
