Family donates to robotics program

The three-year-old Centre High School robotics program has gotten a boost from two parents interested in promoting its growth.
George and Jennifer Miller’s son, Jordan, was in the beginner class as a freshman and now is in the advanced class.
The Millers recently donated interlocking 18-inch square mats for the Vex Robotics Starstruck program students are doing this year.
George Miller built a portable charging station, and the couple purchased matching shirts for the students “to make it more professional,” teacher Wayne Rziha said.
“We went to Jordan’s meets last year, and talking to Wayne, he shared what they needed,” Jennifer Miller said. “It’s a new program, and we wanted to keep it going and give more kids the opportunity to participate.”
“We’re very thankful for the Miller family’s involvement and support,” Rziha said. “The donations of the arena surface and charging station will help us be more prepared for competitions.”
Four students are enrolled in each class. The advanced class is designing three robots which Rziha hopes will be completed for its first competition Dec. 3 at Hesston.
