Fall at playground leads to tense moments
Centre teachers and staff were quick to respond Monday when a 6-year-old fell off a slide at the school’s playground.
The boy, who hit his head in the fall, had a cut on his head.
Staff summoned emergency services to check the boy over as a precaution, Superintendent Larry Geist said.
Lincolnville first responders provided initial care.
Marion ambulance also went to Lincolnville and took the boy, believed to be in critical condition, to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
His injury was not as severe as it appeared, however.
“He was released last night,” Geist said Tuesday.
Geist said he was amazed how well it turned out.
He praised his staff’s quick response along with emergency medical personnel.
“They did amazingly well,” he said.
Interim emergency medical director Chuck Kenney said paramedics wanted to ensure the boy was seen by a hospital equipped for pediatric trauma patients.
