Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

MARCH 3

9:07 a.m. — A 76-year-old woman dizzy and vomiting after a fall at a home near 330th and Diamond Rd. was taken to HCH by Tampa ambulance.

9:49 a.m. — A 60-year-old man slipping in an out of consciousness at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. Marion ambulance also responded.

12:27 p.m. — With Hillsboro ambulance still on its call to Newton until 1:15 p.m., a 71-year-old woman in declining condition at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance. Tampa ambulance stood by until 1:31 p.m. in Hillsboro in case of additional calls.

3:05 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters extricated a driver involved in a traffic accident on K-15 and 180th Rd., and Hillsboro ambulance took him to HCH. Deputies restricted traffic until after 5 p.m.

3:09 p.m. — An intoxicated 70-year-old man who fell and hit his head at a home in the 200 block of N. Locust St. in Peabody was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Marion ambulance. Tampa ambulance stood by until 4:04 p.m. at Hillsboro in case of additional calls.

7:14 p.m. — Without being dispatched, Hillsboro ambulance transferred an unidentified patient from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

9:10 p.m. — A 69-year-old man was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Dole Veterans Affairs Hospital, Wichita.

ThURSDAY

3:05 a.m. — A 55-year-old woman throwing up at a home in the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

6:13 a.m. — A 67-year-old man with chest pains at a home in the 600 block of W. Marion St. in Burns declined to be taken to a hospital, by Marion ambulance. Burns first responders arrived 13 minutes before the ambulance and provided initial evaluation.

10:21 a.m. — A 41-year-old man with abdominal pain at Westview Manor in Peabody was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance.

1:20 p.m. — An estimated five gallons of gasoline that spilled into the street at Ampride in Hillsboro was cleaned up and washed down by Hillsboro firefighters.

8:07 p.m. — A 71-year-old woman needing pulmonology services was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to St. Francis.

FRIDAY

6:27 a.m. — A 62-year-old man with Crohn’s disease was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from a Parkside Homes duplex to HCH.

9:12 a.m. — Possibly the same patient was transferred by a backup ambulance based in Hillsboro from HCH to St. Francis.

4:50 p.m. — A cardiac patient was transferred by the backup ambulance from HCH to St. Francis.

9:12 p.m. — An 8-month-old who fell and hit his or her head at a home in the 300 block of W. D St. in Hillsboro was checked by Hillsboro ambulance attendants but not taken to a hospital.

SATURDAY

12:46 p.m. — A man with a rapid heartbeat at a home in the 300 block of N. Washington St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

3:02 p.m. — An 84-year-old woman with a dislocated jaw at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to NMC Health by Marion ambulance.

5:32 p.m. — An EagleMed helicopter transferred a patient from HCH to Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa Hospital, Wichita.

7:14 p.m. — Tampa firefighters investigated what appeared to be an unauthorized brush fire near 330th and Chisholm Trail Rds.

SUNDAY

1:09 p.m. — A 77-year-old man responding abnormally, possibly because of a diabetic episode, at a home near 140th and Diamond Rds. declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance, opting to go to NMC Health by private vehicle. Goessel first responders arrived eight minutes before the ambulance and provided initial evaluation.

6:50 p.m. — A 70-year-old man at Peabody Health and Rehab was revived by cardiopulmonary resuscitation from nursing home personnel and Peabody firefighters before Hillsboro ambulance arrived 20 minutes after the initial call and took him to NMC Health. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

MONDAY

3:42 p.m. — A 74-year-old man with an infected toe bone at a farm near 210th and Remington Rd. was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance.

8:23 p.m. — Possibly the same patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to Dole VA Hospital.
