Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JULY 31

1 a.m. — A patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital was transferred to Salina Regional Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

2:17 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital, Marion, was transferred to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

7:16 a.m. — A fire alarm at Peabody Health and Rehab was determined to be false before Peabody firefighters arrived.

9:17 p.m. — A juvenile at a Florence residence that was raided by police and sheriff’s deputies was checked by Marion ambulance before being turned over to juvenile authorities. An adult in the house, Robin Hays, 40, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated endangerment of a child and possession of drugs, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

AUG. 1

7:44 a.m. — A 92-year-old woman who was reported by an alarm company to have fallen in the 800 block of Barker St. in Florence was helped up by Florence and Marion ambulance attendants. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

5:55 p.m. — An 80-year-old woman suffering from multiple sclerosis was taken from Parkside Homes, Hillsboro, to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance.

THURSDAY

7:57 a.m. — A 52-year-old woman felt a rib pop then started feeling lightheaded and hot in the lobby of Vintage Bank, Peabody, was taken to St. Luke by Peabody ambulance.

8:57 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Wesley by Marion ambulance.

9:25 a.m. — A 79-year-old woman who fell in the 200 block of S. Main St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

FRIDAY

12:09 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Wesley by Marion ambulance.

6:41 p.m. — A woman in pain at the Victory Lane duplexes in Marion was taken to Wesley by Marion ambulance. Marion firefighters were called to help lift the patient, but other volunteers came forward before they arrived. The ambulance originally was headed to St. Luke but was redirected to Wesley by St. Luke personnel.

SATURDAY

6:20 p.m. — A three-alarm fire involving a lawnmower and hay bales near 230th and Kanza Rds. was extinguished by Hillsboro firefighters with help from Marion firefighters, Durham firefighters also were paged but did not respond. Firefighters remained on the scene for nearly four hours.

8:46 p.m. — A 7-year-old girl with a possibly broken arm was taken by Peabody ambulance to Wesley Children’s Hospital, Wichita, from the 400 block of N. Walnut St. in Peabody. Marion ambulance also responded and transferred an advanced EMT to Peabody ambulance for the trip to Wichita.

SUNDAY

2:28 p.m. — A pasture fire half a mile west of Lincolnville on 290th Rd. was quickly brought under control by Lincolnville firefighters, who remained on the scene about 1½ hours.

10:32 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance stood by during a police raid in the 100 block of N. Buller St. in Goessel in which at least three people were detained by two sheriff’s deputies, a Goessel officer, a Peabody officer, and a Harvey County sheriff’s deputy. A Marion officer and a Hillsboro officer were tied up arresting a person in an un-related case in Hillsboro at the time.

MONDAY

3:39 p.m. — A general fire alarm going off at Goessel Elementary school was called in by the alarm company. Goessel firefighters responded, after finding a key holder to unlock the doors, were able to check the building and no smoke or fire was found.

6:13 p.m. — An 80-year-old female who had fallen in the 300 block of Meadow Lane in Goessel was complaining of right hip pain. A Goessel first responder and Hillsboro ambulance responded and the patient was taken to Newton Medical Center.

6:16 p.m. — A patient from St. Luke’s was taken to Wesley Medical in Wichita by Marion ambulance.
