DISPATCHES

These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

AUG. 22

3:35 p.m. — A woman who fell and had a possible broken hip on 275th Rd. about a half-block west of Remington Rd. in Pilsen was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

7:12 p.m. — A man who was passing out and could not see in the 400 block of N. Ash was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital. Ambulance personnel requested address clarification as initial dispatch did not indicate if the location was on North or South Ash.

aug. 23

9:14 a.m. — A man laying in a yard in the 1500 block of Victory Ln. asked a neighbor to call for an ambulance. Marion ambulance took the man to St. Luke Hospital.

1:15 p.m. — A woman in her 80s in the 100 block of W. Grand St. fell and was bleeding from the nose. Hillsboro ambulance responded, but the woman declined to be transported to a hospital.

1:21 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

3:52 p.m. — A woman in her 60s who was throwing up and reported feeling like she was having a heart attack in the 300 block of Spruce St. was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

thursday

7:43 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance reported it was en route to Hillsboro Community Hospital and “code green.” No dispatch with patient or location information was recorded.

9:39 a.m. — A person checking on a woman who could not get out of bed in the 800 block of Main St. in Florence reported they could not get into the house. Peabody ambulance responded. The woman was not taken to a hospital.

7:30 p.m. — A man who was initially reported to be not breathing but was discovered to have a pulse was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from 300th Rd. between K-15 and Indigo Rd. to HCH. Tampa ambulance and Durham first responders assisted.

friday

8:04 a.m. — A man in his 40s with back pain and unable to move on 250th Rd. between Xavier and Yarrow Rds. was assisted by Marion ambulance, Lincolnville first responders, and EMS director Ed Debesis. The man was not taken to a hospital.

saturday

6:51 a.m. — An elderly woman with hip pain who could not walk in the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

8:23 a.m. — A man in his 40s with dizziness in the 400 block of N. Ash St. was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH.

9:49 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital was taken by Marion ambulance to Newton Medical Center.

10:23 a.m. — A woman in her 70s who fell in the 400 block of Marion St. in Goessel was assisted by Goessel first responders. Hillsboro ambulance was terminated en route.

10:50 a.m. — Goessel firefighters assisted with a rollover accident at 29th and Arrowhead Rds. in McPherson County.

5:50 p.m. — Upon receiving a report of a rollover accident on Limestone Rd. between 360th and 370th Rds., a dispatcher paged Tampa ambulance and fire. At 5:53 p.m., Hillsboro fire radioed dispatch asking if the rescue unit would be paged. The dispatcher responded that there was no rescue in that area. Hillsboro responded, “I believe our rescue coverage goes all the way up to the county line,” whereupon the dispatcher replied, “10-4, go ahead,” but did not send out a page for Hillsboro rescue. After emergency units arrived on scene, Hillsboro rescue was terminated. One individual was examined, but declined to be taken to a hospital.

sunday

8:28 a.m. — Drivers of two vehicles that collided on US-56 at Ridge Rd. just west of Marion were apparently not seriously injured, as Hillsboro ambulance was terminated en route and Marion ambulance reported both drivers declined to be taken to a hospital.

9:50 a.m. — Marion ambulance was paged for an elderly woman possibly suffering a stroke in the 300 block of S. Thorp St., but the call was terminated a minute later when it was reported the woman was being taken to a hospital in a private car.

2:25 p.m. — A tire tube being filled with stop leak exploded and splashed the fluid into a 7-year-old child’s eyes in the 700 block of N. Elm St. in Peabody. Peabody ambulance responded, but the child was not taken to a hospital.

monday

1:37 p.m. — A tractor and field fire at Nighthawk and 110th Rds. was extinguished by Peabody firefighters. Marion firefighters responding to provide mutual aid were dismissed before arriving at the scene.
