These broadcasts regarding fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper.

AUG. 1

11:57 a.m. — A woman in her 50s with severe pain in her left arm was taken by Marion ambulance from the 400 block of E. Main St. to St. Luke Hospital.

7:47 p.m. — Marion ambulance reported it was en route to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. No dispatch or additional information was recorded.

thursday

6:18 a.m. — A report of smoke coming from a building at US-56 and Adams St. in Hillsboro was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to be a cloud of dust kicked up by a mower.

7:29 a.m. — A woman in her 60s in the 500 block of W. Grant St. was assisted to her feet by Hillsboro ambulance. The woman declined to be transported.

1:09 p.m. — Peabody ambulance reported it was en route to an unspecified location. No dispatch or additional information was recorded.

2:06 p.m. — A man in his 60s who had fallen in the 800 block of Main St. in Florence was assisted to his feet by Florence first responders and Marion ambulance. No transportation was provided.

3:46 p.m. — Dispatchers sent Hillsboro ambulance, Hillsboro rescue, Hillsboro fire, Marion ambulance, and a Lifeteam helicopter to a two-vehicle injury accident described as being on Falcon Rd. south of US-56. At 3:54 p.m., the accident was located one mile north of US-56 on Falcon Rd. After arriving on scene, responders downgraded the call to a non-injury accident and dismissed Lifeteam. Two individuals declined to be taken to a hospital.

8:10 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was paged three times for a woman having a possible stroke 3½ miles north of Goessel on K-15. A Hillsboro EMT responding to the third page said he would give his second a phone call. Goessel first responders were paged. Hillsboro ambulance was en route at 8:16 p.m. and requested a helicopter be placed on standby. A Goessel first responder arrived at 8:26 p.m., followed by Hillsboro ambulance at 8:28 p.m. The helicopter was disregarded, and the woman was taken to Newton Medical Center.

7:19 a.m. — Marion fire was paged for a fire alarm at St. Luke Hospital, but was then told to disregard.

12:51 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, fire, and rescue, Marion ambulance, and Lifeteam helicopter were sent to a two-vehicle injury accident at 160th and Indigo Rd. in which one or more individuals were reportedly trapped. At 12:57 p.m., Hillsboro fire chief Ben Steketee reported triaging three individuals as “code green,” indicating they were not seriously injured. Lifeteam was told to disregard. It could not be determined from garbled transmissions whether anyone was transported to a hospital.

7:35 p.m. — A person feeling ill in the 1500 block of Victory Ln. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

11:27 p.m. — A patient was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center.

saturday

11:01 a.m. — A woman in her 30s who fell and was feeling weak was taken by Marion ambulance from Nighthawk Rd. north of US-56 to St. Luke.

11:48 a.m. — A woman in her 70s involved in a two-vehicle accident and complaining of knee and shoulder pain was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from Freeborn and Weldon Sts. in Marion to St. Luke. Marion police and firefighters also responded, as did Peabody ambulance, which was dismissed en route. After completing a prior call, Marion ambulance drove to the scene, but a man in his 20s who was complaining of neck pain declined to be taken to the hospital.

2:11 p.m. — Marion police, fire, and ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident at the former Big Scoop lot on Main St. Three individuals were checked for injuries but refused to be taken to a hospital.

2:27 p.m. — With Marion ambulance engaged in a prior call, Hillsboro ambulance took a patient from St. Luke to Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita.

sunday

12:11 a.m. — An officer requested Peabody ambulance to stand by in the 100 block of W. 7th St. in Florence while officers investigated a possible domestic dispute. The ambulance was released from the scene at 1:50 a.m.

9:02 a.m. — A man in his 80s who needed assistance getting out of bed because he could not put pressure on a wrist to use a walker was taken by Marion ambulance from Remington Rd. between 150th and 160th Rds. to St. Luke.

monday

11:20 a.m. — A patient at St. Luke Medical Clinic was taken by Marion ambulance to El Dorado. A specific destination could not be determined.

11:51 a.m. — A resident at Salem Homes was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital.

3:28 p.m. — A woman with possible diabetes-related issues in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St. was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke.

9:53 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke was transferred by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis.
