Dispatches

According to fire and ambulance transmissions, monitored by the newspaper. Due to various power outages throughout the week, some dispatches were not completed or recorded at all:

Nov. 22

4:35 a.m. — Florence ambulance, Florence rescue, and Florence fire responded to an accident at the corner of 130th and Nighthawk Rds. Peabody ambulance was dispatched, but was told to disregard when it was discovered that no one was in the vehicle.

12:06 p.m. — Marion fire responded to the 400 block of S. 3rd St. after a woman reported a strange odor in front of her house, although there were no smoke, flames, or hot walls.

8:26 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded per officer request to the ambulance barn.

nov. 23

7:16 a.m. — Peabody ambulance reported arriving at Newton Medical Center. No prior transmissions indicating location or nature of the call were recorded.

12:14 p.m. — Tampa fire and Durham fire were called to Indigo Rd. between 230th and 280th Rds. after a controlled burn of ditches got out of control and went into a cornfield.

2:15 p.m. — Marion ambulance was dispatched to Strassburg St. at Marion County Lake for a man who fell and had a possible broken leg, but was on first responder status. Hillsboro ambulance transported the man to St. Luke Hospital, and Marion fire provided lifting assistance.

7:39 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to Hilltop Apartments for a woman who fell and needed assistance getting up.

9:00 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to the area next to Marion Dry Clean and Laundry after a vehicle ran into the front of the building. Information on the driver was not known to dispatchers.

9:43 p.m. — Hillsboro fire department responded to the men’s quad at Tabor College for a fire alarm going off, but no reported smoke.

nov. 24

9:50 a.m. — Marion ambulance, Marion fire, and Peabody fire responded on Wagonwheel Rd. between 190th and 200th Rds. after a concrete mixer truck rolled onto its side in a ditch. The driver refused transport.

7:41 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a man who had a fever and was unable to stand from Lois Ln. to St. Luke.

8:57 p.m. — Marion ambulance was called to Hilltop Apartments after a man called to say he was having trouble with his oxygen. A police officer and second transporting unit was requested later, but both patients refused transport.

nov. 25

2:09 a.m. — Marion ambulance transported a woman who had fallen and was diabetic from the 100 block of Eisenhower Dr. to St. Luke.

4:02 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance performed a basic-life-support transfer from HCH to Wesley Medical Center.

5:05 p.m. — Marion ambulance transported a woman in her 90s who suffered a possible stroke from Marion Assisted Living to St. Luke.

7:21 p.m. — Marion ambulance transferred a patient from St. Luke to Via Christi St. Francis.

THURSDAY

7:14 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance performed a BLS transfer from HCH to Wesley.

11:34 a.m. — Marion ambulance transferred a BLS patient from St. Luke to Wesley.

9:31 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to the 400 block of W. B St. for lifting assistance after a person fell and needed help getting up.

Friday

3:46 a.m. — Marion ambulance transported a person for unspecified reasons from Lois Ln. at Marion County Lake to St. Luke.

5:53 a.m. — Marion ambulance performed a BLS transfer from St. Luke to Newton Medical.

5:59 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a person to HCH. Previous dispatches for the call were not recorded.

Saturday

10:49 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance responded to Bethesda Homes in Goessel for a patient who had a possible seizure. The patient was transported to Newton Medical.

11:57 a.m. — Hillsboro fire responded two miles west of Hillsboro on US-56 for a report of a wire arcing, setting a pole on fire.

8:12 p.m. — Tampa fire responded to a possible fire caused by an electrical pole. Previous transmissions for the call were not recorded due to power outages.

9:33 p.m. — Marion fire responded to the area of Walnut and Jefferson Sts. after reports of a burning transformer.

sunday

7:14 a.m. — Hillsboro fire responded to the 200 block of S. Washington St. for a power pole on fire.

8:09 a.m. — Hillsboro fire responded to the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. for power lines down in a backyard.

8:40 a.m. — A hot power line that had fallen down by the old Alco building was reported by Hillsboro fire. The power line stretched across all three lanes of traffic.

11:10 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a woman who had fallen and was complaining of left hip pain from the 400 block of N. Ash St. to HCH, and was later transported to Newton Medical.

5:43 p.m. — Florence fire, Marion fire, and Peabody fire were called to Fetrow Machine and Repair Shop in Florence for smoke reported coming from the building.

monday

6:23 a.m. — Peabody ambulance was dispatched to the 500 block of N. Walnut St. for a woman suffering a possible heart attack. As Peabody was first response only, Florence ambulance transported the woman to Newton Medical.

11:34 a.m. — Marion fire, Hillsboro, fire, Florence fire, and Marion ambulance responded to the 700 block of E. Denver St. for a camper on fire.

12:02 p.m. — Marion ambulance was released from the fire scene to transfer a patient from St. Francis to St. Luke.

12:03 p.m. — Florence fire was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Olive St. in Peabody for a meter that was smoking, but was then told to disregard by Peabody fire.

5:26 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to the 300 block of Olive St. for a man who suffered burns to his nose and face while smoking a cigarette while being administered oxygen through a nasal cannula. The man was transported to St. Luke, then transferred by helicopter to St. Francis.

8:52 p.m. — Goessel fire was dispatched to a fire west of Goessel. The nature of the fire and exact location were unintelligible from radio transmissions. A firefighter reported a Hesston truck also responded to the scene. Firefighters reported being back at the station at 9:27 p.m.
