DIY plastic pop bottle planter

Wanting to find a useful way to use empty pop bottles laying around the house? Turn them into animal planters using these guidelines compiled from multiple sources, or create your own.
Materials needed
- One plastic pop bottle (16 oz., 1 liter or 2 liter)
- Permanent marker
- Box cutter
- Scissors
- Spray paint
- Paint pens (black or white and pink)
- Plant of your choice (real or fake)
- Dirt (for real plant)
- Gravel or small rocks (for real plant)
Directions
- Take the wrapping off of the plastic bottle.
- Measure the plant from top to bottom, and add an inch for gravel if you are using a real plant. Use a marker to draw a corresponding line that high around the bottle. Mark two triangles on opposite sides of the bottle for ears.
- Carefully use a box cutter to cut around the bottle above the outline to separate the top half from the bottom. This will make it easier to cut around the outline you made. Then, use a scissors to follow the outline more closely.
- Once the outline is cut, use spray paint on the bottom half to create a base coat of color on your planter.
- Once dry, use paint pens to draw in ears, eyes, nose, and mouth.
- For real plants, once the whole planter is dry, first add in gravel to allow for water drainage. Then put the plant in, along with any extra dirt to help keep it secure. If plant is artificial, just put it in and arrange to your liking.
