David Duane Smith, 56, died Friday at his home in Newton.

He was born Jan. 8, 1960, to Lloyd D. and Mary (Humphrey) Smith in Newton.

He was enlisted in the Army, and was known for being an artist and a collector.

Survivors include wife, Marie; sons, David E. Smith, Cory L. Smith, and Quinton A. Smith, all of Newton; brothers, Gary Smith and Michael Smith, both of Newton; sister, Carol Linscott, Goddard; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services were Monday at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
