Cougars roll over Onaga, win by mercy rule

By the time the first quarter ended Friday in a football game at Onaga, Centre led 34-0.

Onaga scored all of its 14 points in the second quarter, while Centre added 16.

The game ended early in the fourth quarter after Centre added another 14 points in the second half to win, 64-14.

Quarterback Braxton Smith compiled 88 passing yards for touchdowns to by Cody Svoboda, Aiden Svoboda, and Xavier Espinoza.

Touchdown runs were scored by Jensen Riffel, Smith, Kyle Naerebout on an interception return, and Espinoza on a kick return and two other runs.

Espinoza was the leading rusher with 10 carries for 108 yards.

Centre has a record of 3-2 overall. The team will play Clifton-Clyde Friday in a homecoming game.
