Claudette Druse

Graveside services for Claudette Kay Druse, 77, formerly of Marion, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Marion Cemetery.

She married Tom Druse at 18, and gave birth to her firstborn son, Tom, in Marion.

Druse joined her husband in France and was introduced to a whole new world. There she gave birth to her youngest son, Richard, and they returned to the United States a year later.

They lived the military lifestyle for many years moving from state to state to many army bases. They settled in Chandler, Arizona, in 1969.

Mom loved children and, as a result, they took in many foster children. They were blessed with the care of a beautiful Apache Indian girl, Christy May Druse, whom they adopted.

They moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Druse managed many restaurants. She was an excellent cook and never turned anyone away. We always had an extra plate at the table.

In 1978, the Druses moved to Enid, Oklahoma. She was a secretary and dispatcher for Mayflower Moving. She attended beauty school and cut hair for many years, until she began a career in the insurance business.

Druse was successful in every aspect of life.

She enjoyed many years of retirement, traveling and playing the slots at different casinos. She loved the holidays, cooking big meals and having family and friends gather to celebrate life and the Lord.

Druse loved to play the piano and organ and often played for the Kremlin United Methodist Church.

Druse is survived by her husband, Tom, of the home; her children, Tom, Richard, and Christy Druse all of Enid, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Grace Hodges; her brothers, Charles, Kenneth, and Dale Hodges; and her sister Jerry Williams.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice Circle of Love.
