Chingawassa Days

Chingawassa Days this weekend will feature three days of activities in Central Park.

Friday

The festival will kick off Friday with a barbecue and ice cream social at 5:30 p.m.

Cash prizes of $50, $25, and $15 will be awarded to the top three winners in Chinga’s Got Talent, a new performance contest for festival-goers 12 and older at 6 p.m.

Capping the evening will be performances by Titans of Tribute bands Motley Crucial, featuring the music of Motley Crew, at 7 p.m. and Poison Overdose, featuring the music of Poison, at 9 p.m.

A beer garden will be open both Friday and Saturday.

Saturday

A 7 a.m. pancake feed will launch Saturday’s festivities.

Rhino Color Run will start at 8 a.m. on Main St. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. at the park entrance.

Horseshoe pitching and registration for dinky ducks in the park fountain also will take place at 8 a.m. Ducks cost $1 each. Prizes are guaranteed.

Chinga Cheer and Dance will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Kids Kabana, Surf’s Up Slip and Slide, and Kid Zone inflatables will open at 10 a.m.

Pick Your Luck and dodge ball will begin at 10:15 a.m.

The dinky ducks race and a children’s beanbag toss will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Three-on-three basketball, with prizes and a $30 entry fee for teams of up to four, will tip off at 11 a.m.

Texas Hold’Em and Heads and Tails games will begin at noon.

New this year will be a Pinewood derby at 1:15 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., players of a rhino-size jenga game will face the distraction of harassment by shouts and air horns as they try to concentrate on which block to move without toppling the tower.

A 2 p.m. watermelon feed will precede bingo at 2:30 p.m.

Kids’ nutrition and family yoga will start at 3 p.m., followed by a lemon/lime pucker-up at 3:30 p.m.

An adult beanbag tournament will start at 4 p.m. Entry fee is $10 per team.

Saturday’s stage entertainment will begin with Dylan Delk at 6 p.m. Justin McCormick will follow at 6:45 p.m. Cameron DuBois will take the stage at 7:45 p.m. Headline singer Dylan Scott will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Sunday

Ty Zimmerman will be guest speaker for a community church service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Performing Arts Center.
