Centre students to perform theatrical mystery

Staff writer

Almost every character in the mystery “Murder’s in the Heir” to be performed by 15 Centre students this weekend has the weapon, opportunity, and motive to commit an unseen murder.

The mystery is similar to the game Clue onstage, and it’s up to the audience to decide who committed the murder.

Billionaire Simon Starkweather, played by CJ Thompson, gathers his family and employees to announce the contents of his will. Within hours, his lawyer, Lois van Zandt, played by Kate Basore, declares the will invalid.

The remainder of the action shows the rejected heirs going about attempting to kill Starkweather. The lights go out, and Starkweather is found murdered.

His grandson, Simon III, attempts to identify the murderer using secret ballots gathered at intermission from the audience.

Play performances will be 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission will be by donation.

The playwright is Billy St. John. Directors are Tye Remy and Morgan Menefee.
