Boil advisory lifted after 5 days

Durham’s boil-water advisory was lifted after five days late Tuesday afternoon.
The advisory was issued Thursday after failure of disinfection equipment caused low chlorine levels and concern about possible bacterial contamination.
It was lifted after testing showed the city’s water was safe.
A suspected contaminated sample Friday delayed testing before the weekend. KDHE laboratories were closed over the weekend.
“It just kind of set us back a couple days,” Mayor Jerid Rosenberger said.
Bottled water was made available at Durham’s community center. Main Street Cafe & Bakery used bottled water and water from outside the city while the advisory was in effect.
