Bluejays' season ends in blowout

Staff writer

Tabor’s season came to a close Saturday with a 51-6 loss at the hands of No. 1-ranked Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Bluejays stayed in the game early on, trailing 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. However, they were outscored 38-0 in the second and third quarters to put the game well out of reach.

Tabor’s play was characterized more by struggle than by mistakes. The Bluejays had the ball for nine minutes more than the Mustangs and turned the ball over just three times. The Mustangs averaged 6.28 yards per play, however, compared to the Bluejays’ 3.47 yards per play.

Tampa native Rustyn Kerbs led the Bluejays in rushing out of the backfield with 56 yards on 11 carries. Ontreveon Cooper scored Tabor’s only touchdown on the day with just over two minutes left in the game.

Defensive end Dylan Delk, a Peabody native, led the Bluejays on defense with 1.5 sacks, 9 tackles, and a forced fumble that became Tabor’s only takeaway in the game.

The Bluejays finished the season 11-2.
