Audrey Singleton

Audrey L. (Collinge) Singleton, 94, of Topeka left this life on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at Brewster Place Retirement Community, where she had been a resident.

One of five children, she was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Emporia to Floyd and Edith Collinge.

Audrey graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1941 and later attended Clark’s Business School and served as secretary at Ottawa High School and Topeka Chamber of Commerce.

Audrey was employed as a consultant, group director, and district sirector for Nutri Metics International Co. for more than 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Community Church.

Audrey married Gilbert Singleton on Feb. 5, 1947, in Ottawa. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Cheryl A. Sandberg, Donna L. Ramskill and Bonnie L. Fritts; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Gladys Lemley and Juanita Fleener.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Kenneth and Clifford, one grandchild, and four great-grandchildren.

Audrey lay in state after 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A visitation was at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., with a funeral service beginning at noon.
