Activities will make somebunny happy

Easter eggs, prizes, and more are planned for this weekend in Hillsboro, Peabody, and Marion.

Hillsboro children can hunt Easter eggs at local retailers, collecting eggs with surprises — and some surprises for adults. Information is available at the Chamber of Commerce office today, Thursday, and Friday.

Kids who visit at least six participating businesses by Saturday and return empty eggs to the chamber office by Wednesday will be entered into a drawing for one of five gift baskets.

Participating Peabody businesses are giving away Easter eggs with coupons, prizes, and candy.

Businesses include Tennant Wood and Metal, Fannie Sterling 1884, ManeStreet Beautique, Hatton’s Hometown Hardware, Flint Hills Gypsies, Porcupine Tea Company, Breathe Deep Works, Peabody Sausage House, and Peabody Market. Children may collect one egg from each store.

Spending $10 or more at participating businesses enters purchasers in a contest to win Peabody Bucks.

Peabody children will go around town counting eggs appearing in residential windows through Friday and submit entries including the child’s name; parent’s name; address; phone number; and number of eggs found to be eligible to win two Easter baskets in each age category: up to 4 years; 5 to 8 years; and 9 to 12 years.

Marion City Library’s annual Easter celebration, from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, will be an indoor, come-and-go event. Kids can see the Easter Bunny, take a picture, and get a bag of candy.

The event, for kids ages 2 to 8, will take place in the Santa Fe Room at the library.
