9 honored by league

Marion High School’s baseball team, which this year included players from Centre, dominated all-league honors announced Sunday by the Heart of America league.

Four players were named to the first team: senior outfielder Mason Pedersen, senior pitcher Payton Heidebrecht, junior utility man Cole Srajer, and sophomore pitcher Blaine Mermis.

Second-team honors went to senior catcher Nathan Baldwin, junior pitcher Corbin Wheeler, and sophomore first

baseman Evann Heidebrecht.

Senior pitcher Seth Savage and junior outfielder Jacob Vondenkamp received honorable mention.

Marion led the league with nine players earning spots. Ell Saline, Inman, and Sedgwick had five each. Moundridge and Remington each had four. Bennington had two.

The team, coached by Roger Schroeder, finished the season second in the state in Class 3A with just two losses.

4 honored in softball

Four Marion softball players also were honored in Heart of America all-league voting.

Senior pitcher Shelby Felvus was named to the second team.

Senior catcher Paige May, senior infielder Taylor May, and junior infielder Kourtney Hansen received honorable mention.
