Construction of 10 or more low cost homes is being planned for Marion by Riddle Quarries. The homes will be built on the east side of South Cedar St. on two blocks between Maple and Melvin Sts. They will overlook the Cottonwood River valley.

One of several survey teams sent out by the Army engineers to examine possible sites for the proposed Air Force Academy visited, then revisited Marion during the past week. They picked as the most desirable spot, an area south and east of Marion that includes the county lake. Whether or not it will be selected is a long, long shot.

Members of the board of directors and trustees on Sunday approved the purchase of land between South Roosevelt and Freeborn Sts., formerly used as the high school athletic field, as the site of the new hospital.

Rehearsals have begun for the Civic Theatre’s one-act play, “Balcony Scene” to be directed by Ethel Gardner Dale. Cast members include Keith Kelsey, Richard Brodhead, Mrs. Ross Haney, Mary Louise Tibbetts, Mrs. Paul Herpich, Jack Seaton, and Leslie Powell Sr.
