A number of Marion County citizens were in Washington, D.C., last week to take part in hearings being held on flood control. They are appearing in favor of the alternate proposal of a number of smaller dams rather than the large dam above Marion on the Cottonwood.

Members of Marion High School senior class enjoyed a weekend trip to Lake Taneycomo, Mo., under the sponsorship of D.B. Jantz

One of Marion’s established business houses changed hands Sunday when Mrs. Wayne Johnson purchased the DelMar Café on N. Third St. from Mrs. Clara Dody.

Miss Grace Jost, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Jost, Hillsboro, has accepted the position as Marion County health nurse.

The annual Senior Awards chapel was held Thursday. Valedictorian honors were divided between Donna Hobein and Madeline Penland. Madeline also won the Balfour award. The Danforth awards went to Kerns Allen and Mary Bartel.

The Youngtown church was hard hit by a twister Friday evening and was damaged beyond repair. Plans are underway to erect another church.
