Following recent sale approval by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and the Kansas Corporation Commission, Greeley Gas Company of Denver, Colorado, began operation yesterday of the local natural gas company, formerly operated by Central West Utility Company.
Representatives of the State Highway Commission were here Wednesday for final inspection of the new district offices and shop building at Marion. Formal approval is expected within a few days.
Ten tickets were issued during the past week to motorists who violated the 15-minute parking ordinance in front of the post office.
Winners in this week’s Cash Day drawing were Mrs. Reuben Zerger, who received $200, and Rose Marie Vinduska, who received $10. Not present when their names were called were Mrs. Clarence Lorenz of Durham, Stanley Anderson, Marion, and Edward G. Stenzel, Marion.
Coach Floyd Yaussi’s Warriors of the hardwoods went on a war party to Moundridge Tuesday evening and returned victorious. The A-team won 48-29. Jim Gilbert was high point man with 14 and Warren Vogel was next with 12. Jim Christensen did a fine job of rebounding, pulling down 16 during the game.
Mrs. W.H. Carpenter, Mrs. Norma Hannaford, Mrs. Alex Case, Mrs. Wallis Hoch, and Mary Gene Fey saw “Around the World in Eighty Days,” in Wichita Saturday afternoon.
