Few people realize the amount of construction going on in Marion. The new home of Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Warneke and family nears completion at the corner of North Cedar and Denver streets. A foundation has gone in southeast of St. Luke Hospital for the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Thompson. Foundations also are in for the new home of the Clyde Richmonds at the corner of Welch and Freeborn and for the home Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Adams are moving to Marion from near Burns.

Marion High School students accepted in the Emporia State College youth symphony orchestra this year are Lu Wheeler, Julia Wooldridge, and Molly Brodhead.

Dale Smith of Marion is gaining a wide reputation over the central states for the quality workmanship of the trailers he manufactures at his plant here. Both steel and wood construction is used by Smith and he builds trailers of all sizes.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Allen announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Carol Jean, to Karl Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.N. Powell of Madison. A Jan. 4 wedding is planned at the E.U.B. Church.

Grades 4, 5, and 6 presented the operetta, “Pinocchio” at the city building Tuesday evening. Lavina Hoffman was accompanist for the production.
