The old Santa Fe Railway water tank, for years a familiar landmark in the south part of the city, this week was toppled over, loaded on large transport trucks and taken to the McPherson area for duty as oil field storage.

Well over 600 persons enjoyed an evening of perfect weather and delicious food at the annual 4-H Club businessmen’s picnic held Wednesday in the Marion City Park.

Midshipman John Reed Williams arrived home from the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, on Sunday for a month’s visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams.

At the Glen Kline home, this sign appeared Tuesday: FREE grasshoppers for fish bait. Catch all you can. Glenn complains that not a soul has stopped to rid his fast-disappearing flowers and vegetables of the big, yellow pests.

The Marion Creamery, manufacturers of Wolf’s dairy products, received another big boost recently when they were awarded the cottage cheese contract for the huge Boeing cafeterias in Wichita. Marion Creamery products are well known in Wichita, being served in several of the most exclusive eating places and the better stores. The creamery also markets Wolf’s ice cream and other products across western Kansas on a “quality product” basis.
