Mayor Ira Newcomer, police commissioner, announces the hiring of Lyle Sanders as a full-time policeman, He will replace Earl Pankratz who has voluntarily gone to part-time status as relief policeman. Harry Mott will remain as the other full-time policeman.

Thirteen Boy Scouts will attend summer camp next week at Camp TaWaKoNi, near Augusta. The boys include Gailen Broadstreet, Larry Evans, Steve Collett, Dick Morse, Lowell Ensey, James Meisner, Tim Colle, Carl Elling, Don Druse, Maurice Williams, Ron Druse, Mike Childs, and Keith Just.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Wheeler, Lenore, Lou, and David, were hosts for an open house Sunday afternoon honoring their parents’ 25th wedding anniversary.

Jill Kline celebrated her seventh birthday Friday afternoon when her mother, Mrs. Jim Kline, invited a group of her friends for a party at the city park. Guests included Jeanne Keazer, Susan Yeagley, Linda Kelsey, Janice Wygle, Rita Jost, Linda Helmer, Sandra Davis, Becky Coe, Deborah VanZee, Cindy Powell, Linda Sutherland, Kathleen Westerhaus, Ginger Kayton, Beverly Hoch, Linda Oldham, Cathleen Costello, Tammy Case, Beverly Elling, and Kristine Kirchner.
