Anyone interested in gardens is invited to attend a “Garden Tour” next Thursday organized by the county Extension Department. The three stops on the tour will be made at the Dave Kraus residence, north of Main Street on Walnut, the Robert Dixon residence at 322 S. Roosevelt, and at the Joe Hein residence at 228 N. Freeborn.

A motion was made at the 20th Century Club meeting to buy and install a lamppost at the south end of the sidewalk of St. Luke Hospital. In addition, a committee composed of Mrs. Bill Meyer, Mrs. Wm. Wygle, Mrs. Edward Costello, and Mrs. Earl Wood was formed to further investigate the proposal of fluoridating the city’s water.

Earl Mueller has been appointed Tampa city marshal by the city council. He replaces Ted Bernhardt, who has served in the capacity for some time. Mueller works for Cardie Oil Company in Tampa and is in or near the city most of the time.

There will be a special program at Strassburg Baptist church May 19 to dedicate the new furniture and floor coverings recently installed. Rev. L.B. Hinz of Waco, Texas, and Rev. Lando Hiebert will be guest speakers.

Officers of the Marion Country Club report memberships are due May 1. It was feared some might drop out due to increased dues from $10 to $15, but this has not been the case.
