Marion’s stellar mile relay team consisting of Junior Bledsoe, Jim Christensen, Jim Gilbert, and Wade Robertson set a new state record for Class A schools in that event at the state track meeting in Wichita Saturday. Their time was 3:28.1, bettering Haskell’s old record of 3:29.9 by almost two seconds.

Mrs. Agnes Price was hostess to the Methodist church’s high school seniors Sunday morning at an 8 o’clock breakfast. Guests were Margaret McClain, Dale Johnston, John Minear, Larry Olsen, and John Price.

Archie Marler’s Cozy Café has recently reopened after extensive remodeling. The counter was taken out and a series of booths built where it had been, making a row of booths on each side of the room with aisle between.

John Newcomer and Ted Heath, two young men from Marion, will be among the 831 graduating May 26 at the Kansas State College spring commencement.

The silver jubilee of Father Arthur Tonne, Pilsen, will be celebrated May 28 with a Solemn High Mass at 10 a.m.

Plans for the state baseball tournament for Babe Ruth League team winners will be held in Marion starting July 20. There is a possibility of at least 17 winning teams from over the state being here for the tournament.

Mrs. J.J. Winter of Cedar Point collected $50 at this week’s Marion Cash Day. Not present to collect their prizes were Abe H. Dalke, Hillsboro, Elmer Hanneman, Peabody, and Mrs. Laura Olsen, Marion.
