Construction will begin about May 1 on the new state shops north of Marion. There will be two buildings, one housing the office and shop and the other storage shed and laboratory.

The city commission has hired Lavina Linn to take over the duties of assistant city clerk that is being vacated as of May 1 by the resignation of Beatrice McKibbin.

Mrs. Bessie Spain, teacher of Comet School District No. 91, and her pupils visited the newspaper Thursday morning and were shown over the plant. Attending Comet are Eugene Francis Stika, Jerold Wayne Spohn, Gerald Lou Holub, Vernon Dean Stika, John Alan Spohn, Rose Mary Holub, James Lee Spohn, Katheryn Ann Holub, and Kenny Holub.

The young folks of the various churches enjoyed a sunrise Easter service on the grounds east of the Evangelical U.B. Church early Sunday morning. Breakfast was served to 125 young people by committees from the churches.

Mrs. Martin Jantz entertained a group of boys Monday afternoon in celebration of her son Michael’s eighth birthday. Boys in Michael’s second grade class that made up the guest list include Steven Childs, Pat Costello, Curtis Eckstrom, Bobby Elling, Steven Heinz, Bruce Kelsey, Garry Klose, James Magee, John Sandwell, Donnie Sloup, and Bobby Winchester.
