Adopted as of Jan. 1 are the following salaries in the city’s administrative department: City clerk, per month $300 (A $300 monthly salary in 1956 is the equivalent in buying power of a $32,000 a year salary today); City treasurer $200 per year; Police judge, $200 per year; Fire chief $150 per year, Mayor $300 per year; Commissioners $250 per year; City attorney $50 per month.

The Warriors defeated Cottonwood Falls Tuesday night 53-36 with Jim Christensen making 18 points for the home team.

The first four sections of bicycle stands were erected this week at the Marion National Bank side of Main and Third streets, for the use of kids who ride their bicycles to downtown stores or the picture show.

Mrs. Walter Ruby collected $50 at this week’s Cash Day drawing. John Scales missed $60, Harry Berger, Ramona, missed $30. Frank Tajchman missed $5, and Robert Wegerer collected $15.

Lenore Wheeler is a student at Wichita U. and a member of the ladies glee club that presented a half-hour program of music on a Wichita TV station Saturday evening. Former Marion resident, Diana Herbert of Wichita, a music major at the university, also was a member of the group.
