Marion postal employees were presented with accident-free service awards Tuesday by Postmaster Harold Keazer. Receiving the awards were Fred Hayen, Route 4, 26 years; Arthur Schmersey, city carrier and Route 2, 12 years; Silas Weidenbener, city carrier, 10 years; W.J. Raymo, Route 3, 10 years; and Homer Stiller, Route 1, 10 years.

“The Style Shop,” owned and operated by H.D. Hayward, has opened at 111 S. Third St. in downtown Marion.

Several Marion Boy Scouts received advancement and special honors last week at the Scout Court of Honor. Brothers Donald and Ronald Druse completed requirements for the Star Scout degree, one of scouting’s more advanced ratings. New scouts inducted were Keith Just, Lowell Ensey, and Steve Collett.

The large vault in the office at Marion High School was battered open sometime last Saturday night and $140 in cash taken. School records and other documents in the safe were scattered about, but were not damaged or lost.

Several people recently joined the mythical “Gallon Club,” those who have given at least a gallon of blood at Red Cross Bloodmobile visits. The latest members are Irene Hett, Mrs. Jim Yeagley, Leland Seifert, Roger Morse, and Mrs. Clyde Thies.

A special mailbox has been set up in front of Farmers and Drovers National Bank especially for mail to Santa Claus.
