The big 1200 hp Fairbanks-Morse engine at Marion Municipal Power Plant is now operating on “dual-fuel. It will give the city a “stand-by” power source in case one type of fuel is not available.
Dec. 5 will be the final official day on the bench of the local court for District Court Judge James P. Coleman. Coleman is resigning after completing about 14 years on this district’s bench. He will be succeeded by Walter Hembrow, Council Grove attorney.
Those who watch the Army-Navy game Saturday should keep a sharp lookout for Midshipman John Reed Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, who is in his second year at the Naval Academy and has played in several games this year.
Pam Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vinduska, celebrated her 8th birthday Sunday by inviting a few classmates for a party. Those present were Janice Childs, Cheri Bell, Anita VanBuren, Carolyn Vinduska, Judy Pankratz, Mary and Kathy Westerhaus, Carol Ann McKibbin, and Mary Alice Schimpf.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th grades of the Hill School will present the operetta “Hansel and Gretel” Friday evening in the high school auditorium. Playing the role of Hansel will be Steven Collett. Jean Morse will play Gretel. Other leading roles will be taken by Larry Boese, Cheryl Caselman, Tom Tucker, and Judy Broadstreet.
