The cast for the Junior Class play “Room for the Groom” is announced this week by Mrs. Loris Reed, director. Lead parts will be played by Mary Williams, Jim Christensen, Neil Hoopes, Junior Post, Molly Brodhead, Sandra Higgins, Darlene Oblander, Caroline Susdorf, Gaila Jost, Tom Shirley, and John Bateman.

Marion County voters clearly showed their independent thinking Tuesday, electing a Democratic governor, George Docking, for the first time in history while at the same time approving a Republican president, Dwight Eisenhower.

One student from Marion and two others from this area are members of the Kansas State College band this fall. They are Sharon Frick of Durham, Eugene Just of Route 1, Marion, and Kathleen Harden of Tampa.

Steven Behrendt’s fourth birthday was celebrated Thursday afternoon when his mother, Mrs. Herman Behrendt, asked in a number of his little friends for a party. Children present were Steve and Lloyd Behrendt, Debra Vogt, Gary Melcher, Roger Jackson, Shelly Batt, Sandra Hoover, Brenda Foth, and Jackie and Edward Hiebert, Hillsboro.

Staff members of the Marion High School yearbook recently attended a workshop on the Kansas State College camp, Manhattan. Those attending were Maxine Heinz, editor; Mary Williams, assistant editor; Warren Gardner, business manager; Neil Hoopes, assistant business manager; and Mary Lou Conyers, photo editor.
