The city commission this week received written confirmation of a recent verbal offer by George Helmer to give the city land on which to build a swimming pool and parking area. There is considerable opinion that the land, lying east and north of his service station at East Main would be one of the most favorable sites for a pool.

The new gymnasium at Florence will see its first basketball game Nov. 7 when former coaches and players from this area will meet the Arkansas Travelers, an all-girl team rated tops in the nation.

The Tasty Grill advertises another big sale, stating, “Last spring when we ran these prices, the public nearly worked us to death. We like to work, so are making the same offer again.” Prices will be — hamburgers, 10 for $1.00; coffee, 2 cups, 6 cents; pie, 10 cents a cut; and chili, 20 cents.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller, Lincolnville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ann, to Duane Biehler, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Biehler, Herington. No wedding date has been set.

Albert Klenda, Clement Klenda, Charles Stika, Paul Meysing and Bill Schimpf returned Friday from deer hunting at Salida, Colorado. As is their custom, they are planning a venison dinner for all their families.
